Type of Windshield Damage You May Encounter in Santa Barbara

Chips: Chips are usually formed by rocks flying onto the glass resulting in a small piece missing. These are also referred to as “dings,” “stone breaks,” or “pits” by professionals. These can usually be filled easily by professionals as long as the chip doesn’t have any extending cracks and isn’t fully penetrating all the way through the glass.

Bulls-eye: Another type of windshield damage is the “bulls-eye.” It’s referred to this because the pattern of the break looks similar to a dartboard.

Stars: These are a type of chip that have small cracks coming out from the center chip. Small star patterns can be filled but but will almost always be slightly visible.
